Screening and evaluation of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes resistance to stripe rust

Stripe (yellow) rust caused by Puccinia striiformis f.sp. tritici, is one of the major diseases wheat in world. Development and use resistant cultivars most economical environmentally friendly solution combating stripe rust. Field experiments were carried out at two sites Ethiopia (Kulumsa Meraro) seedling tests conducted KARC greenhouse during 2015 cropping season to evaluate response 192 elite spring bread genotypes eight checks prevailing races adult plant stage stage. About 72.5 42.5% lines exhibited resistance field screening Kulumsa Meraro, respectively. Disease was more severe cooler site Meraro than Kulumsa. Eighteen 16 Merao almost immune disease (severity AUDPC zero). Seventy-two (36%) showed reaction both locations condition for (CI < 20). For seedling, 47% mixed isolates 31% kubsa responses based on coefficient infection (CI). Key words: striiformis, resistance, susceptible, Triticum aestivum, genotypes.
